Overview

Organised by TechSynergy and ACM SIGCHI, the second edition of World Usability Day Africa set out to shift the AI conversation from “Will AI take my job?” to “How can I integrate AI into my workflow to become world-class talent?”. Rather than a single conference, it ran as a three-phase, impact-driven programme that took participants from an idea to a working MVP.

Three phases, from idea to MVP

Phase 1 — AI Hackathon
A multi-week virtual hackathon where multidisciplinary teams of four or more built functional MVPs with AI integrated into both the product and the workflow.

Phase 2 — Acceleration Workshops
Intensive, expert-led sessions streamed to virtual participants, with paths for developers, designers/PMs and a general track on prompt engineering and AI product strategy.
03
Phase 3 — Grand Finale Conference
At GOMYCODE Yaba, the top five teams pitched their MVPs live, alongside keynotes from global and local AI leaders, a career fair and an awards ceremony.
